Before and After--A Different Kind of Photo Editing

Hubby has been pushing me lately to take some abstract photos to put around our house.  In doing that, I have also been playing around with abstract photo editing.  Here's one of the non-traditional photo edits we might just hang in our house!

Before:  A picture of a spring I took with my macro lens.

After: Edited using Gimp software and this tutorial.

What do you think?  Do you ever edit your photos in a non-traditional way?

I haven't tried Gimp, although it is on my lists of things to do. I usually use Picasa, which is also a free program and it is simple and easy to use. I will have to give Gimp a try and will definitely look at the tutorial.

I really liked the 1st one as an abstract shot, but the second one definitely took it to the next level! Neat edit. I've never used Gimp..I have photoshop but also use Picnik.com..have you tried that program? It's pretty cool.

That's really a cool shot! I love playing with the edits! It's fun when you come up with something that you normally wouldn't even notice and it becomes an amazing piece of art! Really cool!

What a clever idea! When I discovered presets I started having all kinds of fun with my photography editing.

Some people believe that presets make us lazy, but I disagree. Photography is supposed to be fun and that's why we all do it.

Anytime I find something that makes photography feel like Christmas morning again, I jump all over it.

Great edit!!!
