Take a break and delete!

I haven't felt like blogging lately.  I'm taking a much needed blog break to spend some time with my family...
 ...take care of sick children...
 ...play with my macro lens...
...but most importantly, get some much needed (other) computer work done.
This week (and all of last week) I've been cleaning out my computer.  I got an external hard drive for Christmas and now it's time to free up some space!

I backed up all my photos and files on the external hard drive and now I'm deleting, deleting, deleting!  As hard as it has been to delete photos off of my computer, it is also gratifying.  I've freed up over 10 GB of space on my computer (so far) and have improved it's performance greatly!

I've got a long way to go though.  I have SO much more I could and should delete I just can't bring myself to do it.  Right now I'm using the "would I be completely heartbroken if I lost this photo" method.  In doing that though, realize that I'm too sentimental with a lot of my photos.  It's hard for me to delete even the blurry photos because of certain looks on the girls faces or other things.  You will be proud of me though, I AM deleting ALL the blurry photos!

Wish me luck as I continue on this short blog break and persist in deleting photos cleaning out my computer!

Upcoming things for my blog:
  • a makeover!
  • more composition tutorials
  • how to find and install Gimp scripts/plug-ins (i.e. preset actions)
  • ...and more!

Can't wait to see your new design. Enjoy your time. I need to go through my pictures too.

Something I need to do too! My computer is slower than a snail and it is driving me totally crazy. I have a 2 TB hard drive that I bought for Christmas so that I can move all the photos over and hopefully change my computer speed.

Okay. I am the SAME way. I need to delete thousands of photos. But don't. I keep them all. Even if there are ten in a row that vary just slightly, I keep them. Major problem for me.

What external hard drive did you get? I need one too. I have been thinking about getting one for a while now. Is it easy to use?

Jamie I have to say that when I look at the header of your blog when it's correctly displayed, I don't think you even need to change it. The clear layer makes the space not look so big. JMHO! See you soon!
